ATLAS FERTILIZER CORPORATION joined the 13th Philippine National Corn Congress (PNCC) held at Philippine International Convention Center, Forum Tent in Pasay City last November 22-24, 2017.
Corn is once again at the forefront as the Philippine Maize Federation Inc., (PhilMAize) partners with the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) for this annual event.
As DA Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said in his keynote speech “I encourage everyone to look beyond corn as material for feeds only. We should innovate and come up with other products out of corn.” He emphasized the three things needed to boost the agriculture sector, namely, technology use, financing for farmers, and marketing.
This year’s theme was “Reshaping Corn as Staple, for Health and Wellness”, the congress also gathered various corn industry stakeholders to discuss issues and disseminate information on the industry. It focused on the promotion of the rice-corn blend to help combat malnutrition and the benefits of eating corn grits.
AFC team manned the booth displaying various non-traditional grades of fertilizers of the company. Visitors of the exhibit were provided with brochures on fertilization guides for crops using non-traditional grade fertilizers specifically for rice and corn. The technical team answered questions like how to fertilize, when to fertilize and how much fertilizer to apply.
It was also an opportunity to show to the farmers visiting the exhibit the use of the Nutrient Expert for Corn computer application. It is designed to help corn farmers by giving them location- based crop management recommendation. A series of questions about the farm will be asked. From there, a computer generated recommendation will be shown to guide the farmers.
Also shown during the exhibit were the latest audio visual presentations of AFC like top dress (17-0-7) for rice , cocogro for coconuts and the 60th Anniversary of the company.
